Concussion Identification

The Concussion Identification component is equivalent to the recognition component in the Canadian Guideline on Concussion in Sport.

Stakeholders identified by the school board/school (for example, school administrators, teachers, coaches, school first aiders) who have been specifically trained to identify signs and symptoms of a suspected concussion are responsible for the identification and reporting of students who demonstrate observable signs of a head injury or who report concussion symptoms. In some instances, the stakeholder may not observe any signs, or have any symptoms reported, but because of the nature of the impact, will suspect a concussion. This suspected concussion/concussion event must be reported for 24-hour monitoring.
