Ophea’s Updated Concussion Prevention, Identification, and Management for Schools e-Learning Module

Ophea’s Concussion Prevention, Identification, and Management for Schools e-Learning module was updated in August 2025 and provides school staff, including educators, administrators, and support staff with the latest evidence-based information to help prevent, recognize, and respond to concussion in the school setting.

The updated e-Learning module reflects the most recent evidence and revisions to the Concussion Protocol within the Ontario Physical Activity Safety Standards in Education. The e-Learning module highlights the shared responsibility of all school staff in concussion prevention, identification, and management, and the updated Return to Learn and Return to Physical Activity stages.

The eLearning module also supports school boards and school board staff with meeting their requirements for annual training.

Participation in this e-Learning module helps to establish a system-wide approach to concussion safety, one that prioritizes student health, inclusion, and well-being through informed professional practice.

In addition to the Concussion Prevention, Identification, and Management for Schools e-Learning module, Ophea provides e-Learning modules on each of these topics: Supporting Students with Prevalent Medical Conditions, Disability-Centred Movement: Supporting Inclusive Physical Education, Implementing Ryan’s Law and PPM 161: Ensuring Asthma-Friendly Schools, and Gender-Based Violence Prevention. Ophea's e-Learning modules are free to access with a free Ophea.net account and are available school year-round.
